Quality Psychotherapy at Affordable Fees
The Center’s reputation as a place to obtain quality dynamic
psychotherapy is one of the best in the Los Angeles Area. Our therapists are at the
Center for a minimum of two years and are encouraged to continue seeing their clients
upon completion of their training.

History
The Saturday Center was created in 1982 by Doctors Judith Davenport, Judith Sherven, and Judith Swerling. They were soon joined by a number of other professionals who provided both office space and supervision to the Center’s
therapists.

Throughout its history, the Center has been staffed by psychological interns, psychological assistants and marriage & family therapist interns who are supervised by a group of experienced, licensed private practitioners
dedicated to the practice and teaching of psychotherapy.
In 1987, under the Directorship of Bruce Brodie, Ph.D., the Center became a psychological corporation. Donald J. Seldeen, Ph.D., brought the Center to its current location in 1994. It continues to provide the type of training and psychotherapy envisioned by its founders.

Purpose
The Center was founded with two purposes. The first reflected a desire to repay the community that had supported the founders over the years. This goal was achieved by providing quality psychotherapy to persons of modest means. The
second was to provide advanced training that focused on the therapist as an instrument of change.

In an era of managed care, the Saturday Center remains committed to dynamic psychotherapy and to providing treatment based on need rather than economics. We believe that mental health and psychological growth are achieved by treating
the whole person rather than by an attempt to eliminate symptoms and cut costs. We know that therapists trained in this manner are better equipped to offer counseling and psychotherapy that lead to real and lasting benefits.

Services
The Saturday Center provides a wide range of short-term and long-term therapeutic services for adolescents, adults, couples, and families. The two basic modalities are Counseling and Psychotherapy. See Counseling and Psychotherapy
for a more detailed explanation of the difference between these services.
